Professional and Ethical Behavior in the Organization
Question: Discuss about theProfessional and Ethical Behavior in the Organization. Answer: Introduction In simple words, ethics can be described as the set of principles which may impact the people in their professional and personal life. Work ethics on the other hand can be understood as the value which is required to be followed within the organization. Professional ethics may be defined as the ethics which is required to be followed by the employees within the organization. The ethics impact the working styles of the people (Rhodes Wray-Bliss, 2014). Moreover, it impacts the behavior of the employees within the organization and also forms the important elements for the purpose of decision making. These are useful both for the organization and the employee. Therefore, ethics are something which can be largely related to the moral decision. Answers to the Questions Related to the Professional in two Different Areas: Part A: 4 Interview Questions for person working in an IT organization: How important are ethics and behavior in your organization? In my organization ethics and behavior are considered to be very important if the employee is at the client site. In the office, it is important to follow some of the ethics related to the timings, the dress code and the other important requisite in the organization. In my organization the ethics is given a due importance and the action is taken if any of the ethics is broken. This action may be in the form of the warning in general but if something serious is committed which may impact the client activity, it may have a serious impact on the employee which may even lead to the termination of the employee. How do you incorporate your behavior in front of your seniors? It is important for me to ensure that the proper ethics is followed. Though, my peers and seniors in the organization are generally friendly but they do complain if someone misses the general ethics again and again. The employees do respect the seniors because of the ethical code of conduct within the organization. I also respect my seniors because I believe that they also need to ensure that the ethics are followed in the organization. What are the factors which impact the ethical behavior during work? The factors which impact the ethical behavior during work include the presence of the clients. If the client is present in the organization, it is very important for the people to follow the ethics and behavior in the organization. A small misconduct may be taken very seriously by the client and may have an impact on the relationship between the company and the clients. Thus, the presence of client is taken very seriously by the organization. How the ethics and behavior in professional life does impact the persons real life? Ethics and behavior of the employee in the professional life also impact his or her personal life. By following the guidelines in code of conduct within office, an employee also ensure that he/she follows the same outside the organization. If the person has to follow the ethics related to timings in office, he will develop the habit of being in time at all times. He/ she will understand the importance of timings at all timings and will make sure that he doesnt break the same in his personal life. In addition to this, the ethics in the organization makes the employee to work in a completely honest and an ethical manner. It is ensured that the employee follows each and every ethics and everything is given a proper importance from the perspectives of his personal life. He will follow the work ethics outside the organization and will make sure that other people follow the same ethics. PART B: Interview of a person working in accounting questions: How aware are you about the professional body code of the organization for which they are working? Answer: I am completely aware of the different professional code of conduct setup by my organizational policies and procedures. I make sure that I follow each and every code of conduct and nothing is left at all. My organization has strict code of conducts with respect to the costumes which are required to be won in the office, the work timings and other things. One of the most important elements related to the code of conduct is not to send any Emails to anyone outside the organization from the official Email ID. In addition to this, the organization is very strict with respect to the office timings. It is very important to follow the office timings in order to ensure that the organization continues to work in the proper manner. I make sure that I do not miss out on any code of conduct and follow the ethics of the organization in a proper manner. What influence do these codes have on their own behavior and that of their peers and supervisors? The peers and the supervisors are also very much concerned about the code and conduct. They keep on sending continuous mails to remind the employees about the different ethics which are required to be followed. It is important for the employees to follow the code of conduct in an effective manner so as to ensure that the organization should run in a professional manner. Also if an employee misses the code of conduct, he is reminded by the supervisor to follow the same. If an employee doesnt follow any code for a long time, it is reported to the HR and the employee is given a warning. Do you believe code of conduct is important in an organization? Professional Organization needs to have the code of conduct. This is because, if the organization will not follow a code of conduct, the employees will work in their own manner and there will be indiscipline in the organization. A professional activity cant be successful unless there is a discipline within the organization. Therefore, it is important that the employees may behave in a professional manner within the organization. It is very important to follow the ethics within the organization in order to ensure that there is a professional behavior within the organization and the employees are completing their work on time and in a proper manner. In addition to this, by being professional, the clients get a better outlook of the organization as being professional creates a better image of the organization in the eyes of the clients. This helps the organization in building a better image in front of the clients. Therefore, being professional in the organization is very important. What are the possible consequences if they breach either their professional body's code or the organizations code? In my organization the code of conduct are given huge importance. If an employee misses a general code of conduct such as not been compliant to the office timings or not following the dress code, he is initially given a warning. After this, if he repeats the same act, he is given a formal warning through a proper official Email that the employee has been missing the code of conduct and he needs to follow the requisite timings in the organization. But if employee breaches any serious code, he is punished. This may be in the form of suspension, withdrawal of salary of the given month or permanent termination of the employee. For example, if the employee doesnt fill the time sheet for the given month, he is given couple of warnings before the closure of the month. But if he doesnt follow that as well and the month gets passed, the salary is deducted for the given number of days for which he doesnt fill the timesheet. Another example is if the employee sends an official document to his p ersonal mail ID or anyone else, he may be suspended and/ or terminated from the organization. If it is found that he has send only to his personal mail ID to complete some of his work at home, he may be given only warning but if it is found that he is using the same in a wrong manner, he will be terminated. Reflection on Similarities Between the Professional Body and the Individual Working in the Profession: There are many similarities which can be illustrated between the professional body and the individual. Firstly, both the individual and the professional body work for the betterment of the organization. The professional body creates the rules and ethics which are to be followed both by the directors of the organization and also by the employees. Rules are same for everyone including the professional body and the individual employee (McPhail,2012) . Another similarity between the individual and the professional body is that both are looking for the growth. While the organization as a whole looks for the growth in the market, the individual looks for the growth of his experience, his talent and his abilities. Both the organization and the individual have a common goal i.e. to work in such a manner that the objectives of the organization can be fulfilled. An individual works to do value addition to him in terms of growth and salary. Similarly, the organization grows to have value additi on to the employees. Thus, both work to achieve the requisite results. In the sphere of the present world, client satisfaction is very important for the organizations. It is important for each and every organization and the individual to satisfy the client. If the client is happy with the organization he can do wonders for the organization. Similarly, if the client is happy with the employee in the organization, he can give a sudden rise to his career. Reflection on the Differences Between Individual and Organization Though, organization and the individual works for one another, there are significant differences between the two. Firstly, the individual comes within the organization and the organization is the single entity. Secondly, the organization creates ethics and rules which the individual has to follow the same. Thirdly, the individual gets benefits from the organization in terms of salary and perks while the organization earns from the profit (Rumens Tyler, 2015). An individual may conduct any activity which is related to the misconduct while the organization punishes the individual for conducting any misconduct. Therefore, the individual can be the performing body for the organization and the organization can be the governing body for the client. Reflection of My Own Views I believe that ethics are very important in ones life. Be it the professional life or the personal life each and every person works on some or the other ethics. It is important for the organization to ensure that the proper ethics are followed within the organization (Ekman, 2016). This not only embeds the feeling of professionalism within the employees but also motivates them to do the work in a positive manner. By follow ethics the individual can maintain good relations with the organizations. While, if an individual doesnt follows the ethics he/ she may always be frustrated and will be under the fear of being pointed out. Conclusion Ethics are the most important elements of works life. It is the act of the individual to follow the ethics which defines that how professional is the individual as a whole. It is important to follow the certain ethics in life in order to ensure that one lives a completely prosperous life with complete respect and love. Therefore, it can be concluded that ethics play a very important role in the professional workplace and can be considered to be very important in work. In this report, the analysis has been done on the ethics and behavior of the individual in the professional organization with the help of the Interview. Transformation in An Imaginary Life free essay sample
Tables Made into Trees Transformation is one of principal themes of David Maloufââ¬â¢s short novel An Imaginary Life. Sent to a barbarian village in the outskirts of the Roman Empire, Ovid is forced to make changes to himself to find even the smallest bits of happiness. He starts to notice and absorb nature which, in turn, helps teaches him about himself. He first starts to notice his mental state improving from bleak to bright. He also begins to observe his surroundings and allow them to open his eyes and improve his attitude. These surroundings have a beautiful and powerful effect on Ovid and he learns that they can teach him more about his own emotions and thoughts than society ever could. The Boy is also a part of Ovidââ¬â¢s transformation. He is a tool and a link between human society and nature. While Ovid tries to teach the Boy about human culture, it is the Boy that teaches Ovid about being human. We will write a custom essay sample on Transformation in An Imaginary Life or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Malouf uses many tools including Ovidââ¬â¢s mind, nature, and the Boy to facilitate Ovidââ¬â¢s transformation throughout the novel. One of the major aspects of Ovidââ¬â¢s transformation is based on his mental state and his outlook on his situation. The first glimpse we get into his thoughts comes in the opening paragraphs when he is describing what seem to be his surroundings. He portrays the setting as a bleak and dull place with nothing worth mention and no hope to be had but he ends his description with ââ¬Å"But I am describing a state of mind, no placeâ⬠(16). This shocks the reader and exposes Ovidââ¬â¢s current state of mind. This bleak, pessimistic description is then contrasted to a joyful, beautiful description of a scarlet poppy. The contrast provides insight into the importance of changes in the natural environment, as Ovid is change from being troubled by the bleakness and emptiness of life that surrounds him to being overcome with joy from the color of the poppy. While he is on this high of emotions, he questions whether the people from his old life in Rome would look poorly upon him for the exaggerated happiness he feels because of the flower. This shows the separation of his natural surroundings and society. It also marks the beginning of his transformation to natural world acceptance. Ovidââ¬â¢s identity is also molded by his surroundings. He starts to adapt to his new home and become more in tune with the people and the landscape. An example is when he starts to learn hunting from the village people. It brings him closer to nature which, in turn, teaches him aspects about himself. He finds himself able to purely express himself physically and emotionally rather than being caught up in Roman traditions. He learns that nature has the ability to teach men about human existence. The societies, like him, are shaped by their surroundings. In Rome, he was surrounded by civilized and advanced culture. This culture had formed by changing the nature that surrounded them. They built great buildings and intricate roads; thus distancing themselves from nature. This not only changed the way they lived, but the people that lived there. On the other hand, the barbarians that Ovid was exiled to live with are much closer to nature. They live more modestly and are more in tune with the environment. When the poet is engulfed by this society, he changes naturally to fit in over time. Even the language changes Ovid. His point of realization of the languageââ¬â¢s affects on him is when he decides to teach the boy the barbarian dialect. ââ¬Å"I have come to a decision. The language I shall teach the Child is the language of these people I have come among, and not after all my own. And in making that decision I know I have made another. I shall never go back to Romeâ⬠¦ So I admit openly to myself what I have long known in my heart. I belong to this place now. I have made it mine. I am entering the dimensions of my selfâ⬠(94-95). This is a major turning point in Ovidââ¬â¢s transformation. It is when he makes the decision to shed his old life and replace it for his new on one. He is fully submerging himself in this new existence and is opening himself up willingly for change. The Boy is another tool of transformation during the novel. Once again, it can be accredited to the environment and conditions he and Ovid are in. Ovid strives for a sense of belonging and unity with all the elements and tries to force the same upon the boy. After some time he becomes fascinated with the Boyââ¬â¢s ability mimic the sounds of nature. Ovid starts to admire the Boyââ¬â¢s personality and is intrigued by the fact that he has mastered life in nature. Nature and wilderness made by God are what the boy has faced and lived through while all Ovid has done is survive a society made by mere men. The Boy and Ovid are very similar though. They are both affected and react to changes in their environment. When first captured, the Boy reacts violently and is tied up with cloths. This is symbolic as it signifies both the physical and mental restraints caused by the conformity of civilized society. These bonds hold him back just as Ovidââ¬â¢s cultivation impedes him. Later on in the wintertime, the Boyââ¬â¢s sickness reflects both the physical sickness caused by captivity and the lack of freedom that men endure in order to work against, not with, the elements and nature. Conversely, when the Boy is finally released into his natural habitat, he is happy to return and is even willing to care for Ovid in it because he thrives there. At the end of the novel, when he is in the field, he finds ultimate satisfaction and freedom from what he used to be. The vast openness and immensity of the land which once scared him becomes his source of food and drink. Through his progression and changes, he finds himself at and endpoint in which he is satisfied in mind, body, and spirit. The vast openness and immensity of the land which once scared him became his source of food and drink. The natural environment impacts Ovid so much that age and small details of life no longer bother him. He sees that the existence of human life is everlasting. He is transformed to the point of total satisfaction. His final statement sums up his conversion to his new self, ââ¬Å"I am there. He benefits from belonging to the wilderness and not being defined by society. Ovid makes a complete transformation over the course of this novel. He is influenced by his surroundings and finds himself being changed by them. These conversions first happen in his mind, then through nature and language, and finally through the Boy. Ovid finds himself changing as the book progr esses and reaches a point of complete happiness and contentment at the end of the novel.? Works Cited Malouf, David. An Imaginary Life. New York. The eNotes Blog How College Is Like That Juicy Hamburger You Just Dont Want toEnd
How College Is Like That Juicy Hamburger You Just Dont Want toEnd Just come with us on this one intern offers more advice on how to savor college and prep for the real world, which in foodie-terms can only be likened to that salad bar at the Souplantationa bottomless pit of just meh. So, now that weve livened your spirits Picture this. Youââ¬â¢re at a restaurant, and itââ¬â¢s around 3 or 4 oââ¬â¢clock. You woke up late and didnââ¬â¢t have time to grab any breakfast, and you had class for a couple straight hours without a break. Essentially, youââ¬â¢ve gone all day without a single bite of food, and MAN youââ¬â¢re hungry. So hungry, in fact, that the moment the waiter brings you whatever it is youââ¬â¢ve ordered (probably something with french fries), you praise him for his good deed, nearly yank it from his hands, and devour the entire meal before you even realize itââ¬â¢s happening. The next time you look at your plate, you realize itââ¬â¢s just you and a couple crumbs left. You arenââ¬â¢t even sure what you just ate. Now, I didnââ¬â¢t just use this example because this is my life on a near regular basisâ⬠¦ I used it because itââ¬â¢s really applicable! Watch me go, I promise, this is totally going to resonate. That hamburger and french fries you just savagely took down in 2 minutes flat- thatââ¬â¢s college (Oh my GOODNESS, what is that you say?). Chances are, you (you near graduate, you) feel like college ââ¬Å"whooshâ⬠ed past you in 2 minutes flat, or something close to that. Youââ¬â¢re looking back at all those fragments of memories and experiences, and probably freaking out a little bit. Okay, maybe a lot-a-bit. I know Iââ¬â¢ve spent the past couple nights rehearsing lines like these: ââ¬Å"whereââ¬â¢d all the time go?â⬠and ââ¬Å"I canââ¬â¢t believe itâ⬠and maybe some ââ¬Å"â⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (thatââ¬â¢s just some silent wall-staring). Fret no more, fellow sorry souls. Weââ¬â¢re all in this together. Weââ¬â¢re going to make it through. Weââ¬â¢re going to savor all the best things about college while we still can. For those of you who arenââ¬â¢t as close to the end of the plank as us, pay heed to this list of top 10 things that are awesome about college (and maybe try to chew a little slower). When someone asks you what youââ¬â¢re doing with your life, you are allowed to answer ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m a student,â⬠and just like that, the ââ¬Å"I now have to tell a stranger I have no idea what Iââ¬â¢m doing with my life and Iââ¬â¢m unemployedâ⬠conversational crisis is averted. Seriously, just like that. Enjoy this. Even if you have to awkwardly linger around people until they ask you that question, just do it. You essentially live in a weird village full of likeminded, crazy 18-22 year olds, and youââ¬â¢re friends with a ton of them- this is something that could only be crafted by a spirit above. Seriouslyâ⬠¦you live surrounded by your friends. Surrounded. This will likely never happen again in your life. Ever. Go hang out with your neighbors (and by neighbors I mean those that live: next door, across the street, down the street, and anywhere from 1-10 blocks away from you). This weird village you live in has its own set of moral codes and ethics. Close to 50% of the things you do in the little microcosm of a world that is your college town will never be accepted outside of that bubble. Revel in it. On the same vein, once you graduate, you will no longer be able to recount events of the past night or week and shrug it off with a smirk and the words, ââ¬Å"college, man.â⬠Self explanatory. The opportunities your university provides for you are endless. Clubs, events, speakers, concerts, special lectures, counselors, employment- the list goes on and on. You should participate as much as you can and take advantage of it all. Donââ¬â¢t be lazy, youââ¬â¢ll miss out on a lot of experiences you wonââ¬â¢t be able to get anywhere else. You can cook like youââ¬â¢re a survivor on the series Lost, and no one will judge you. Pre-packaged foods, a microwaveâ⬠¦who needs a stove or forks or knives? I mean, even if you wanted to have a dinner party, Trader Joes has some frozen meals that serve at least four people. Youââ¬â¢re all set! Once you leave college, people actually may start expecting you to use fresh ingredients and things like spices (not the kind that comes inside your top ramen package- mmm, MSG). Eat as many microwavable chicken nuggets and taquitos as you can, while you still can. You get to learn the things you want to learn about. I know everyone complains about school because of all the work and studying and blah, blah, blah. But we all know, deep down, we like it at least a little bit. The fact that we get to fill our brains with new information on a daily basis, and that that information may lead us in one direction or other, building our interests and leading us to new onesâ⬠¦thatââ¬â¢s just awesome. You know it, I know it. We just donââ¬â¢t like to really admit it all the time. College students are stubborn. You can wear sweatpants whenever you want because your day job isnââ¬â¢t really a job at all. Your job is to sit in a lecture and try to stay awake while learning things. Nowhere in that description are the words ââ¬Å"business casual.â⬠Pajamas are only pajamas if youââ¬â¢re in bed and sleeping- otherwise, theyââ¬â¢re just clothes. Think about that. Youââ¬â¢re allowed to dabble in things without being talked about as if youââ¬â¢re a lost soul searching for your way. Hey, itââ¬â¢s college. Youââ¬â¢re encouraged to try new things, regardless of what they are. Literally, you can do anything and people (essentially by law) have to just nod and say, ââ¬Å"thatââ¬â¢s what college is for,â⬠and theyââ¬â¢re right. So explore, a lot, and do the weirdest things you can possibly think of because you never know whatââ¬â¢ll stick. Soon itââ¬â¢ll be too late and your dreams of being a figure skater will be looked at a little more critically (Not that that should hinder you. You should always chase your dreams, even if people laugh at you, or think youââ¬â¢re nuts. Iââ¬â¢m just saying, take advantage of the head start college is intended to give you). You are told, around three times a year, that you must stop doing schoolwork and instead, ââ¬Å"relax.â⬠Winter break, spring break, and summer vacation are some of the best inventions that have ever been created in the history of the world. Fire, the wheel- they pale in comparison. Itââ¬â¢s mandated, enforced relaxation. This will most likely never be permitted at any other time in your life. Phew. Good luck. If all else fails, listen to some ââ¬Ë90s music. Or to Hall and Oates (specifically, ââ¬Å"You Make My Dreamsâ⬠). You will feel like a kid at Disneyland whoââ¬â¢s eating a churro (and we all know thatââ¬â¢s the best feeling in the world).

Womens Right to Education
Womens Right to Education Hashtag: #HappyWomensDay The Struggle for Formal Education The international Womenââ¬â¢s Day is celebrated to recognize the struggles and achievements of women around the word. Two of the most prominent of these achievements are the right to vote and the right to education. The struggle for womenââ¬â¢s equality began in early 19th century. In the 1830ââ¬â¢s, while maintaining their role as wives and mothers, womenââ¬â¢s movement in America sought to broaden their knowledge through a formal college education. However, the cult of motherhood and limited social and political rights during that time restricted this education to home application. For instance, the American educators who pushed for womenââ¬â¢s education justified their efforts on the benefits of education in the domestic sphere, in marriage, and motherhood. Consequently, colleges offered a limited range of courses that are mostly relevant to womenââ¬â¢s role as homemakers and mothers. The fight for their right to education was further made difficult and prolonged by the fear that educated women would abandon their traditional domestic duties and intrude upon the male sphere. In fact, the male-dominated popular press of the early 20th century even publicized the notion that women are destined parlor, nursery, and kitchen workers and mentally and physiologically incapable of education. Moreover, although firmly promoting equality for women, the movement itself during that time had no strong position on the role of educated women in western society and in fact spreading the doctrine of separate spheres. Women had achieved the right to vote in the 1920 but made little progress in their struggle for employment and education. Women remained largely excluded in the educational system until they started to pursue higher education and earned more bachelors degree than men in the 1980s. Achieving Gender Equality Through Education Education for women is one of UNESCOââ¬â¢s gender equality priorities. Consequently, most educational systems around the world offer women education and empowerment. Womenââ¬â¢s continuing effort to improved their knowledge and skills not only resulted in the creation of more institutions for womenââ¬â¢s learning but recognition of the fact that womenââ¬â¢s education is as necessary and beneficial as that of men. The study shows that that are more women in formal education now than in the past. The reason is that formal schooling not only enhanced their opportunity for employment but also improved their conditions in life. In developing countries, for instance, educational helped women meet their practical gender needs, benefit from salaried employment and healthier households. However, due to cultural attitudes, women in some developing nations appear restrained and need to put more effort in their quest equality, knowledge, and skills. Although the majority of developing nations, provide women greater access to formal education, they are restrained by cultural attitudes pertaining to female education. In fact, study shows that education for females in some African countries lagged behind that of males. Some of the barriers found include sexual abuse and harassment, particularly in mixed gender schools. Education had already improved the lives of millions of women around the world. They have greater access to higher education offered by public and private universities. Women are increasingly benefitting from online courses offered by Open University and Continuing Education Programs. They are now empowered, independent, have greater participation in government, and better employment opportunities.

Accounting Information Systems Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Accounting Information Systems - Article Example The Act is believed to have unquestionably enhanced the audit quality, though its Section 404, which stressed on internal control besides the financials, has been widely considered to be premature. However, implementation of the Act had ensured that businesses made better decisions and in many cases even discovered superior competence resulting in cost savings. In the initial stage, companies had to incur higher expenses to perform extensive audits of their internal control systems and consequently in the initial years of its implementation, there were reports of many companies going private as they could not afford the audits. In spite of cost involved and the complicated audit requirement, SOX has been able to fortify the function of autonomous audit committees in terms of superior corporate governance. The review of the above article helped in coming to the conclusion that the perspective of the author is agreeable. The article stresses the need for evaluation and declaration of corporate organizationsââ¬â¢ internal control efficiency. It emphasizes that though SOX and Section 404 obligates a thorough evaluation of all financial reporting associated internal controls and, hence, requires a huge amount of resources, its positive impact on the quality of audit and corporate governance makes it highly beneficial and a necessity in the modern business environment. However, besides evaluation of internal controls, emphasis should be made on formulating controls around security of information.

Free Black people in Antebellum America between 1820-1861 Essay
Free Black people in Antebellum America between 1820-1861 - Essay Example ng the effect of anti-black laws were segregation, lack of opportunities among blacks either at school or at work, lack of political participation in the public sphere and the general disenfranchisement against the blacks that made life difficult for them. Albeit there were few free blacks prior to the Antebellum period in America, they were still in danger of being relegated to slavery by many means such as being caught and sold into slavery, inability to pay debts and sold as slaves and losing their ââ¬Å"freedomâ⬠documents which will automatically make them slaves since blacks were treated as slaves by default in the 18th century. And those who are deemed to be ââ¬Å"freeâ⬠still suffer from disenfranchisement, persecution and restrictions on their putative freedom. The rise of urban neighborhoods however slowly changed the political and economic prospect for the blacks. Urbanization nurtured black communities and from these communities emerged the free black people in Antebellum America which became prominent in periods 1820 to 1861. Community organizations, voluntary educations, mutual help societies and fraternal societies such as black temperance societies, Prince Hall Masons and Black Odd Fellows lodges helped united these emerging free black communities. And from these communities emerged the new northern black elite who were educated, professionals, wealthy and well connected that led antislavery movements. These emerging movements gave direction and mold for the black culture in the 20the century and later propelled the impetus for abolitionist movements that eventually emancipated the blacks such as the Civil Rights Movements which removed the invisible shackles of the blacks and made them equal in law and opportunity (Greven 173-174). One of the assertions of these new black elite was to racially integrate schools because segregated schools for the black were underfunded and poorly instructed. Black leaders realized that with the kind of schools

Different economic factors Essay Example for Free
Different economic factors Essay In this report I am going to describe the way that Cadbury are affected by different economic factors. I will describe the influence of two contrasting economic environments on the business activities within the organisations. I will then compare the challenges to selected business activities within the organisations, in two different economic environments. Recession Recession is when the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) falls and goes negative. The GDP represents the wealth of the economy. When there is a recession there is a decline in business activity, over more than a few months. Employment rates, household income, business profits and investment spending all decrease while unemployment rates and the amount of bankruptcies rise because people begin to be more careful with their money and are less prepared to buy high priced items, for example cars and houses. People tend to take less risks when investing their money and companies also cannot really afford to be employing as many people and this is how the unemployment rates increase. The affect of recession on Cadbury Recession will affect Cadbury but not too drastically. The reasons for this are that people will still continue to buy Cadbury products because they are a low priced product and still affordable to many people. The sales for Cadbury may even increase during a recession because people may fall into comfort eating over the recession which would result in increased sales for Cadbury. More expensive products, for example Cadbury gift boxes and celebration cakes however, will decrease in demand and sales for these products will fall fairly drastically because they are higher priced than single bars so less people will be prepared to spend that amount of money in a time of recession. This will however increase the sale of small, individual bars. In a recession Cadbury will easily be able to recruit people. This is because a higher percentage of people would have been made redundant from their previous jobs and so they will be happy just doing a job until they find something better. They will not be as bothered if the pay rate isnt as high or if they dont receive any benefits, they will just be happy about earning money again. Therefore in recession recruitment for Cadbury would be an easy process as a large amount of people will be looking for work. Cadbury would also be able to pay a reduced wage to new employees. Economic Growth Economic Growth is where the wealth of the increases, this can be measured by looking at the GDP (Gross Domestic Product. ) As the wealth of the economy is growing there is a higher demand for a businesss products or services. When there is an economic growth, people tend to feel more safe about their jobs, their sense of job security increases and they therefore feel more comfortable about spending out larger amounts of their money. It is during a time of economic growth that people will be more likely to take out a loan with a bank or buy a high priced item, for example a car because they will be confident in knowing they will be in their job further down the line. The affect of economic growth on Cadbury When the economy is growing, Cadbury will see an increased demand for their products because more people will be happier spending their money. The sale of larger, more expensive Cadbury products will also increase because people wont mind paying out more money for these, unlike they would if there was a recession. Cadbury will have more employees during this time because they will need to keep up with the demand. Recruitment however, will be a much slower process than it would in a time of recession. It will be a slow process because people are already likely to be in a job working so it will take a longer time for Cadbury to gain workers. Cadbury would then have to offer a higher rate of pay than other companies in order to get people to want to work for them. Most people would stay with their current job if the pay is similar. This could be costly for Cadbury as they will have to offer as much as they can afford in order to attract people.
